Project Management
Eric Nickel joined RGS in 2020 as an Agency Executive in the Project Management service group. Eric had a thirty-three year career in the Fire Service in positions such as Battalion Chief, Deputy Chief, and Fire Chief. Eric has broad experience in implementing Board and Council policies, creating shared regional solutions, delivering projects, and providing fiscal accountability and transparency. He is skilled in communicating complex information to policymakers and the general public. He has experience in managing all phases of fire operations and in negotiating and shepherding fire and communications infrastructure projects through to successful conclusion.
Eric has a bachelor’s degree in business administration and is a graduate of the Executive Fire Officer Program of the National Fire Academy.
Outside of work, Eric is a master gardener who loves creating sanctuaries for butterflies, bees and birds. He’s especially good at growing low-water, California native plants.
