Planning
Jim Carney joined RGS as a Strategic Services Consultant in the Land Use Planning Services Group in 2017 – 2019 and again in 2021. He works with a team of RGS Advisors providing a broad range of services, including planning, grant writing and management, project and program administration, and consulting on affordable housing.
Jim has a master’s degree in urban and regional planning and a bachelor’s degree in urban studies and economics.
As a Board member of Sierra Roots, Jim helped to seek funding for a proposed thirty-six cottage housing community for homeless persons in Nevada County. He is also active with a group developing a cohousing community in Auburn in the Sierra foothills.
Outside of work, Jim and his wife, Sandy, spend time with their daughter’s family and grandchildren. He is a runner, walker, and keeps in shape with weight training, stretching, and yoga.
