Hazel Joanes joined RGS in 2019 as an Emergency Management Senior Advisor. Hazel has over twenty years of combined experience in Public Works and Emergency Management Services in both public and private sector. Some of her extensive experience includes Emergency Management planning and Hazardous Waste Management planning for counties. Hazel has experience in Disaster Debris Recycling Programs design and operations. She was worked with FEMA public assistance program implementation and hurricane recovery plans for municipalities. Hazel has been an instructor for the National Emergency Training Center, the FEMA Public Assistance Program, the Montana Governor’s Conference on Emergency Management Debris Management and the National Hurricane Conference-Debris Management.
Hazel’s educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from California State University, Northridge and certifications in the following areas: Municipal Waste Management, University of California, Los Angeles, Hazardous Materials Control Management, University of California, Los Angeles, Recycling Markets Economic Development, Sacramento State University, Green Classrooms, the Center for Green Schools and Cost Estimating Format and Hazard Mitigation, Emergency Management Institute.
