Tonie Cox

Tonie’s career as a designer includes experience in product and landscape design, design education, and project management.

After working with artisans in Indonesia, the Philippines, and Central America to develop hospitality furnishings for the US market, Tonie turned her focus to service work through the development of public parks. She has worked in landscape architecture with local public agencies like the San Francisco Recreation and Park District, the Palo Alto Department of Public Works, and the Livermore Area Recreation and Park District as well as private design firms contracted for public projects.

In working with local governments and special districts, Tonie has been charged with keeping projects on-time and within budget. Her experience includes CEQA compliance, construction documentation, and administration. She excels at design communication and uses her experience in design thinking, graphic communication, and universal design to facilitate public participation in the design process.

Tonie graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from Harvard University, with a concentration in Visual and Environmental Studies. She also holds a Masters in Industrial Design from North Carolina State University and a graduate certificate in Landscape Architecture from University of California, Berkeley -Extension.
