Tom Schwedhelm joined Regional Government Services (RGS) as a Strategic Services Consultant in the Organizational Development Services Group in 2023. Tom has over thirty-five years’ experience in local government, serving first as a Santa Rosa Police Department officer and continuing to promote up through the Department to the position of Chief of Police.
When Tom retired from the Police Department, he continued his commitment to public service by serving on the Santa Rosa City Council. During his tenure on Council, he held positions of Council Member, Vice Mayor, and a two-year term as Mayor.
Tom has led several successful government/non-profit regional partnerships to address pressing community issues such as housing for all, homelessness, violence prevention and water supply issues including being the chair of the local groundwater sustainability agency.
Tom earned his associate degree in administration of justice, his bachelor’s degree in business management, and his master’s degree in psychology – organizational development. His work with RGS includes leadership training, executive coaching, team building, and strategic planning.
Outside of work, Tom enjoys traveling with family and friends, cycling, fly fishing, and struggling to discover a consistent golf swing.
